Swimming has always been an influential part of my life. When I was 9 my friend at the time convinced me to sign up for the local summer swim team. That summer was all it took to convince me that this was the sport for me. That same first season, I was also awarded the most improved swimmer. I took off in this sport, where I went to a competitive year round club and began swimming USA. I did not want to stop, I absolutely loved swimming and it soon became my main sport. I currently swim with the Greater Susquehanna Valley YMCA club team and I have been a varsity swimmer for my high school since my freshman year. I have qualified for districts since my freshman year in Pennsylvania's District 3 Region, which is one of the more competitive Districts in the state. With my experience that I obtained and my passion for the sport over these years, it has made me want to swim at the collegiate level. I feel that I would thrive at the college level and reach personal best times as a result of being at a higher level of training and competition. Coaches and Teammates have motivated and encouraged me to be not only the best swimmer I can be, but the best possible person and teammate I can be. I have had coaches tell me that I am an extremely hard worker and dedicated to improving myself, and that I am able to push myself more than most other swimmers they have coached. In college, I plan to continue this work ethic and become a better swimmer while immersed in a tight-knit swim family and team activities.
In addition to my desire to swim at the collegiate level, I am looking for a school where I can achieve my academic goals and aspirations. I am currently taking all AP and Honor classes, while maintaining over a 99% GPA. I plan to major in sociology or social work, or a field closely related to them. In addition to swimming, I play soccer for my high school and have been a varsity starter since my freshman year. I am also a part of the National Honor Society and am the President and School Editor for our High School Newspaper. Nevertheless, I am looking for an interactive and close community between students and a college where there is always something to do in my free time. I am excited to communicate and meet with coaches in the near future and find the college that is right for me.
