I have been swimming ever since I was 8 years old. Almost immediately, I felt drawn to the water. I fell in love with the sport- the cheering on team mates, the team picnics, and the second family I felt that this sport gave me. That passion I had almost 7 years ago is what drives me to keep improving and working hard. I always knew that swimming in college was something I wanted to pursue, and I now realize that with strength, hard work, and determination, I may be able to make that life-long dream come true.
My main events are freestyle sprint, however, I also minor in 100 backstroke. I am a very self-motivated person, and try my hardest to spread positivity to the team. Whether it's cheering a team mate on in a race, or helping a friend through a tough set, I try to keep a smile on my face. When given constructive criticism, I apply it immediately in an effort to fix my stroke, and ultimately get faster. I have a strong work-ethic and always give my practices, as well as my races, my all. This same determination lies in the classroom as well.
In school, I study very hard, and maintain a GPA of 4.3. I am also the vice-president of student council, and actively participate in volunteer opportunities in the community. I find swim to be a getaway from the stressors of school, and I always find enough time in my schedule to make both priorities fit. Having a planner and good time management skills is a huge component of my success. My goal is to attend a college that not only allows me to reach my goals as a swimmer, but as a student as well. I hope to keep an open mind in recruiting to find the university that is the best fit for me.
