2021 Spotlight Personal Statement
I have been swimming competitively since I was 6 years old and joined my first summer league swim team. My goal that first year was to swim all my events legally and win the Ironman award. Summer league swim team led to club swimming at Team Greenville. As a 7th grader, I decided to try out for my high school team. I made the team and then qualified to swim the 200 free at the SC High School State Championship meet where the team finished 2nd. The next year, my high school team won the girls' 4A state championship for the first time and have successfully defended the title in 2018 , 2019, and 2020. I have been fortunate to be a part of these incredible teams where I have learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice and leadership. Outside of the pool, I work hard to maintain a high GPA while taking the most challenging classes available at my school.
I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe that I have the talent, character and work ethic to have a positive impact on the team.
