Since I was 10 years old, my dream has been to swim in college. Swimming has been my central focus of my life since moving to The Woodlands and swimming year round with the Woodlands Swim Team. When I am swimming there are times where I am able to forget my surroundings and simply focus on pushing my body harder. If I am feeling down or stresses, swimming always makes me feel better, even on the days I think I don't want to get into the water. I want to continue to compete in college because I strongly believe that I can continue to drop time and progress in the sport. Swimming in college will help me with this progression while giving me the stability of a close group of friends as I begin my college career. I know that the skills I have obtained over the years such as time management, perseverance and leadership will open many doors for me in college and beyond.
My parents would describe me as very hardworking both in and out of the water and without swimming I do not believe that I would be the person that I am today. To swim doubles most days, attend drylands, and maintain a 3.85(unweighted-- 4.47 weighted) GPA takes determination and focus. Like most teenagers I enjoy spending time with my friends an dI pride myself in not usually getting caught up in the drama that can be found in large swim teams. I try to consider others feelings and be nice to everyone. I believe my coaches would describe me as hardworking and as a leader on the team- I received the TWST Spirit Award for my group in 2018- and my teammates always tell me that I lighten up the mood at practice and they enjoy training with me.
As a junior I am still considering all of my career options and I feel I would be well suited for a mid to large sized Liberal Arts school where I can explore a variety of topics. I want to be a part of a college team where everyone is close and we support each other and continually push one another to reach our highest potential. I preform most strongly when led by a coach who motivates me to achieve my goals- and perhaps even helps me set goals I haven't considered. I want a coach I can talk to and joke around with when appropriate, but who will give me strong guidance and help me be my best self.
