Sports and being competitive has been an integral part of my life and part of my family history. My grandfather was a professional soccer player in the Netherlands and he was the first coach for the national women's Dutch soccer team. My mom was also a professional softball player and my dad was almost a professional tennis player. I have played many different sports throughout my life.I started with gymnastics at the age of 4 and then when I got to middle school I played soccer, basketball and lacrosse but at the age of 9 I switched to swimming and I became inseparable from the pool. I only swam for a year in Vermont before I had to move to Canada for 6 years because of my dad’s job. It was a great experience because swimming is super big in Canada and I was able to advance a lot while I lived there before I had to move back to Vermont. I am now a Junior in high school and back in Vermont continuing to push myself to become stronger than I was before.
