Personal Statement

Ever since I was born I have spent my time in the water. I have invested my summers engaging in summer swim team from the young age of 8 continuing to the present. While enjoying the competition, I joined club swim team to compete at the next level. Through swimming I have learned to set aspirations and focus my energy on achieving them. I aspire to learn from all aspects of my life and focus them to achieve new results in and away from the pool, drawing strength from those around me. My swimming aspirations consist of training and competing at increasingly challenging meets while I continue to support my peers.

Through competitive swimming, I have learned that it takes major commitment and dedication to succeed. I have learned that my mind requires an outlet to grow and experiment for me to succeed and my strongest outlet is swim. When I compete, I bring all the pain, growth and knowledge I have experienced through practice, to demonstrate my strength. When I achieve my aspiration I channel my elated mood to encourage my team; learning from my experiences when I don't reach my goals and strive to obtain them.

In all aspects of my life I strive to grow and challenge myself, I view attending university as an essential step in my life to attain this goal. Swimming competitively allows me to focus my energy and achieve my goals. An important contribution to my success, whether in swim or academically is having an outlet to channel my stress, and a positive environment to support my aspirations. My mind set is my greatest challenge and strength. When in a positive mind set I train my best, race my best and strive to achieve faster times and higher grades. I learn how to push and break both mental and physical barriers, and learn from my experience.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
