I am Zoe Chapin and I love swimming. I started swimming for Portland Aquatic Club when I was 8 years old. What I love most about swimming is the community and the friendships. I really love the hard work, training, and competition, too. But the people I have met through swimming became so important to me. I love supporting my teammates, and love when they support me. This became very clear to me during the pandemic when, even though we were not in the pool, we were still supporting each other every day. I work hard, set goals. and always do my best. I am looking forward to joining a college team that feels like a family and works hard together. This year has been good for me in the pool. I feel like I'm growing stronger everyday. I was very excited to go the the Washington State Championships with my high school this year for the second time. It was also really exciting to win our District Championship.
I have a relatively small family. My mom and dad are divorced, but live really close to each other and get along really well. My dad is a swimmer, too. He has been swimming his whole life. I think I had an interest in swimming early on because my dad loves it so much. It was fun this fall when I would get out of the pool from my high school team practices and my dad was jumping in for his daily lap swim. My dad and I also like to cook together, especially desserts. My mom always supports and helps me. My mom is a doctor, and when my science teacher doesn't explain things well, she always helps me understand it. I spend most school days at my mom's house and have a good routine there. School is very important to me and I work hard to do well. In my free time I like to play with my dog Olive, talk with my friends, and do arts and crafts.
