Swimming has always been important to me. I started swimming competitively at 9 and it quickly changed my life for the better, I loved the water and to be surrounded with people just as eager as myself was amazing. As I grew up the pool took on a new face, not just a place to play but a place I could go to free my mind, relax, laugh, and be satisfied from all the hard work my teammates and I shared. But racing... there is no better feeling then when you finish a hard sprint or killer 200 to climb out of the water, drops slipping off the new suit, air rushing in and out, and looking to the scoreboard to see your best time. The drive to want to be better and healthy spirit of competition from my teammates, that really have become a family, keeps me coming back to the hard sets and freezing waters just so I can ensure that race day feeling again. Without this sport I truly don't know where I would be and that's why I'd like to continue with it into college!
The Major I'm interested in is Nursing and it is very intimidating to want to balance that and such a consuming sport but my bottom line is to want to help people and if I can do that while racing my heart out and laughing and bonding with my team then my dreams would officially come true.
I've been a Junior Captain for Inglemoor High School Girls Swim Team and will continue as a Senior Captain this spring. I've stayed on the varsity team throughout High School and I also belong to Pro Club Swimming. Unfortunately my junior season was cut short due to covid and my times have not been tested to what I can do and I believe this season having an ease out of quarantine will display my hardwork.
Finding a university that will challenge me both in the pool and in the classroom is important. I am excited to find a team that I can become a part of and grow with throughout college. I believe that with a close team to support you, you will do much better than on your own. Thank you for considering me to join your school and swim team.
Covid training: June 23rd I was finally able to get back in the pool with my team and have been swimming for an hour (which we hope to bump up to two) five days a week ever since. We also hold morning zoom calls to workout from 9-10 and through this I've been able to get back into shape and prepare for the upcoming season.
