I am looking for a team that I can grow with to reach my potential and teammates that I can help grow too. Swimming is my life and I love competing with team members who want to win - but not at the expense of others. Everyone has bad swims, it is what you learn from them that matters. The pandemic was hard in the Pacific Northwest to swim consistently due to very few indoor pools open and even fewer outdoor ones. I feel that I have so much more to give to the sport of swimming and extending my passion and dedication in college would be amazing.
One thing that I believe is you are what you put into it and there are swimmers whose only goal is to be the fastest - whatever it takes. That is how Olympians are shaped. High School and College level sports are team-focused and knowing the ratio to garner the greatest amount of points wins. Sometimes that means you don't swim in an event or meet - but nonetheless you cheer and encourage the ones that can make that happen. I am a strong teammate, student, and friend and I bring that character to the pool.
Academically, I am a Running Start student and will graduate in June with my high school diploma and an Associate's Degree. While many people choose to do AP classes, my focus was to branch out and experience college classes/schedules so that it will prepare me for when I enter college. During the pandemic I pivoted to a fully online program that allowed me to have a stable learning environment and not have to experience the ups and downs of "if school goes in-person", Covid testing, etc. I feel that the online experience really set me up to succeed as a Running Start student.
