Hi there, my name is Kiara Lamb and I'm a student athlete. I'm sure this may seem obvious, but to me being an athlete is more than just playing a sport. To me, being an an athlete means being a role model. They play as a team, even if they aren't the star player, or even if they are. They work hard everyday, even when they can't see the light waiting at the end of the tunnel. They understand that to be their best they have to focus on more than just athletics, so they focus on improving their academics. They also know that their actions matter, so they work on fixing their character so they can lead by actions and not only words. When I look at joining a college team these are the characteristics I look for in a team.
As a brief description I would describe myself as an overachiever. I love doing well in everything, so I put my best into everything. When I say everything, I mean everything. I am an active scholar who is very passionate about not only my grades, but learning as well. This is why I even have taken some shop classes despite the fact that I struggle with them. I work to be a leader too, in clubs, and in non-school related organizations. In fact, I help out with my old swim club, the Seymour Water Warriors, almost every week. I assist the coaches with both managerial duties and as an assistant coach. I am also a huge musician. I love playing my instrument (the euphonium), and I am in an extracurricular band called the Lawrence Symphonic band. Not only this, but I have competed in our state solo and ensemble and I am a member of our school's jazz band class.
It is due to all these activities and many more that I can confidentiality feel that I will be a good fit on any team. I have developed characteristics such as perseverance, manners, leadership, and more. I stand out because I care passionately about those I work with and about making college an experience I will never forget, and the best part is that I will do it in a way you've never seen before. That is why I am the athlete you are looking for.
