Hello, my name is Maci Parker! My birthday is October 26th, 2002, and I am currently a junior at Desert Ridge High School in Mesa, Arizona. I enjoy riding my bike, spending time with my family, talking with my friends, reading, and going to school.
The first thing I would like to showcase about myself is the fact that I LOVE being involved with my school. With my schoolwork I am always giving 110% effort into every project, homework assignment, quiz, and/or test that comes my way. Truly, I am not able to sleep until all of my homework is complete! Because of my efforts, I have been recognized as the “Student of the Month” in three different classes of mine that are all instructed by three different teachers. I genuinely love learning and strive to know more about various subjects, especially those that have to do with of math, chemistry, and spanish. That is why it is very important to me that I attend a college that can offer astounding academic programs.
Another thing about me is that I love connecting and talking with people. I am generally a happy person with a positive, optimistic outlook on life that I enjoy spreading to the people around me! This was one of the reasons as to why I ran for Student Council; it allows me to connect with and spread positive vibes to a wide range of students at my school, while simultaneously making constructive changes to Desert Ridge as a whole! Volunteering for community services is also one of my hobbies, as I love to meet and get to know the people in my community! Some of my favorite community services that I have participated in this year alone have been visiting with the memory-loss patients at the assisted living home down the street from my house (it is called The Summit Assisted Living), packing food for Feed My Starving Children, and shopping for clothes and toys for an organization called Adopt A Family. Since I am in both Student Council and National Honors Society, I volunteer at the very least 25 hours of my time per school semester and dedicate it to serving my community. I honestly just love people! It is important to me that I go to a university or college that offers a sense of community on their campus.
I have been told that I am a very hard-worker by many people in my lifetime so far. But many of my coaches, teachers, and even my parents are now recognizing that the significant aspect of my hard work is not only all of the effort I put into my daily activities, but it is also HOW I work. At the end of this year’s tennis season, I received two awards at our tennis banquet. I was awarded with the “Scholar Athlete Award” for achieving a grade point average above 3.5, and I am very honored to say that I was also awarded with our school’s “Jaguar Pride Award”. I cannot even express how much of an honor it was for me to receive that second award; the Jaguar Pride Award, sometimes referred to as the “Spirit of the Jag” award, is a very significant piece of recognition at my school. It is granted to an individual who exerts school spirit through their words and actions, who displays kindness to their teachers, coaches, and peers, and who is dedicated to being a successful student in school. My coach announced to our team that I had earned this award for those reasons; specifically, he mentioned that I support and encourage my teammates to try their hardest on and off the tennis courts, I come to practice every day, bringing my smile and work ethic, and I compete with great effort whenever I step foot on the court. I believe that I would be a great asset to your tennis team, for I am a leader who genuinely cares about not only my success, but the team’s success as a whole.
Above all, my goal is to attend a college or university that has a quality academic reputation and a fine sense of community. Playing tennis is something that I have a lot of fun doing and am very passionate about, and I believe that I can contribute both the leadership skills and potential that your team needs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me! I hope I can be in contact with you soon!
