Tennis will always be a sport that I have extreme passion and love for. It has taught me many life lessons, has given me many opportunities, and some of my best memories and people I have met is because of tennis. It’s a sport that always reminds me of who I am. Playing college tennis is something I have always wanted to do, so the idea of meeting new people, creating new bonds with the coaches and teammates, and learning more about myself as a tennis player is something that is so important to me as well as having fun and working hard! I truly believe anything is possible. Working hard is a very important and I strive to do it everyday. It’s best to suffer and cry now, and laugh and celebrate later. The most rewarding thing is seeing all the hard work from beginning to end. When it comes to my practice time on the court every ball-every minute counts for me. I am super competitive and I always want to do better.
As far as how I play, I have a mix of a flat and spin ball depending on the shot. I love my slice and it’s probably my favorite shot at the moment. I try to volley as much as I can. In fact, more points are earned at the net then in the back court. Even statistics say that! They volley is a crucial part of my game at times and if I can make a serve and volley happen I will do it. I am 5’4 and I have great speed and I continue to work on my conditioning. Being an athlete is honorable, but it just means there is more in life to balance, like academics. Academics are so important to me and is worth just as much hard work as being an athlete. Just like in tennis, I will always try and make sure my work is done right. If I can get ahead in classes I will just because time management is crucial in a busy schedule. Communicating with my teachers is essential to me. It helps me stay updated and it’s also a great way to feel comfortable in class and not be afraid to ask questions or for help.
My whole life I have always been interested in the medical field so I’d love to major in pediatrics (pre-med) because I love kids and it would be my pleasure to help them. Additionally, I would like to minor in psychology because I think humans are super cool!
All in all, I love what I do and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for me.
