Tennis has been with me for as long as I could remember. It was introduced to me by my dad, a former collegiate player, as a young child. It was something I would play with my family for fun and it grew into a passion of mine. I started to become more serious, grow my game, and soon enough I started competing at the age of 10. Tournaments and competition have not only influenced my tennis but my character. After years of competing, I have learned that it is just as much mental as physical. Starting tournaments at a young age, I didn’t realize that my mentality could be affecting my game. It has been a process to get my mind right in order to move forward with my tennis and compete at a higher level.
Tennis has empowered me by giving me more confidence and self-belief because it has allowed me to trust in myself and my training. Through tennis I have been able to learn and develop skills such as problem-solving, controlling what I can in the moment, and staying focused on the present. Outside of tennis, I really take my academics seriously. I have enrolled in honors and higher level courses to challenge myself and give myself the best high school education. I am interested in both business and the sciences and hope to pursue one of those fields through a college education. I would love to be a part of a college tennis team because of the supportive environment. Having played in numerous team competitions, being a part of something and working with others to achieve a common goal is one of the best experiences.
