Growing up in Hawaii has its challenges for any young tennis player due to its limited resources and isolation from the rest of the country. My passion for tennis led me to take matters into my own hands, and at the age of 14 I moved to the Sanchez Casal Tennis Academy in Naples, Florida and started online schooling. It was a tough sacrifice to leave my family and friends behind and not be able to play in many of my local tournaments. Despite that, it was the best decision my family and I ever made. I wanted to train with the best coaches and players in the world, and be closer to national tournaments as well as compete in international tournaments.
Since starting at the academy, I have honed in on my time management and organization skills which helps me to balance my rigorous training and demanding academic course load. A big factor of my success as a tennis player, and as a person, is my ability to adapt to different situations and embrace change. These are imperative to being able to compete and interact with people from all over the world on all different levels. I am looking for a program that will allow me to continue to grow as a student as well as an athlete. I am confident that my coachability combined with my leadership, skills and work ethic on and off the court will make an immediate impact on your program.
