I was born in the Philippines and moved to Barcelona when I was only 7. I have been out of my comfort zone as a child, and my early experiences moving between Asia and Europe have contributed to make me the resilient person I am today. However, most of my character has been built in the dimensions of the 27 by 78 ft. quadrilateral: the tennis court.
Tennis has been the most definitive aspect of my life not only because it is my sport, but because it has endowed life lessons irreplaceable outside the court. Tennis is a game of consistency - and in life I have learned to keep myself afloat despite my inevitable mistakes. It has taught me that striving for perfection can be a destructive pursuit; I may not always play the perfect point, but my next point could be my best one.
In this way, Tennis is much like computer science - the field that attracts me most. It is constantly evolving, and the answers are not always obvious. Yet conceptually, the grit I have built fighting for every point on the court has instilled my capability to constantly troubleshoot and problem-solve.
The past couple years of online school have proven that being a student-athlete is a complementary endeavour that suits who I am and what I intend to be in the future. I do not intend to solely excel in either Tennis or Computer science, because I am determined to succeed in both.
