My name is Emma Andersen and I have been playing tennis since I was 7 year’s old. Tennis is by far my favorite sport and I have loved both playing and watching tennis over the past 10 years. One of my favorite experiences was getting to be a ball kid at the PNB Paribas Indian Wells Tennis Tournament. I have gone to the event the past 4 years and will be going again this coming year as well.
I attend Foothill High School and am currently a senior. I made Varsity as a freshman and that year I was the #2 Singles player. This year I am playing doubles. Last year our team came in second place in our division and went to CIF, we lost in the second round in a very tight match losing on points in the tiebreaker, but it was still exciting to get to go. My senior year we look to improve and go further in CIF. I also play at least 2 – 3 USTA sanctioned tournaments a month in Girl’s 18's. I believe that in order to improve you must play matches. I train with a private coach and go to the Part Time program at Advantage Tennis Academy 3 times a week after season. I am now training at NexGen Athletic Performance which focuses on improving performance specifically for tennis players and I am hoping it will allow me to take another steps forward in my playing ability this year.
I am thinking about a career in Law, so I am looking for a school that might have a program that I can major in; however, I am also interested in Political Science. I know it might be a little early, but these two areas seem very interesting. My grades have improved significantly each year and I am working hard to continue this in my senior year. Foothill is a very challenging school and I think that is going to prepare me for college.
I am looking for a college where I can play tennis and get a good education. I am hoping that my skills on the court may lead to a scholarship as it has been my dream to play tennis in college ever since I picked up a racket. I look forward to this new experience and look forward to hearing from coaches and schools as I prepare to enter into this new chapter of my life. I hope you consider me for your program, I will work hard and will make every effort to represent your program in a positive manner, both on the court and off.
