As Sidney Crosby once said, "Dreams are so important. You need to have big goals and expect a lot of yourself but you have to enjoy the ride too."
I remember watching the Grand Slams on TV when I was younger, thinking about how surreal everything was and how it would be an absolute dream to step foot on those courts. That's where my passion for tennis started. When I finally went to the US Open for the first time, it felt unreal to watch all of the players on court practicing and playing matches. The experience was incredible and it gave me a bigger desire: to play for college. Now, whenever I go to a coach or do private practices, I strive to play my best and work towards achieving the collegiate goal.
Besides my own practices, I have coached many kids of all different levels and ages and I have learned many things from these experiences. I learned patience, leadership, and I have definitely learned how to improve my own skill by watching what others might need to work on.
Currently, I play on the high school team and have been a part of the Varsity Team every year. I love the people and their passion for the game. I always look forward to reaching the team goals in our division and my personal goals by the end of the season which have led me to achieving my personal bests during Conference matches.
I would love to meet new people who play at the same level as me and who share the same love for the sport. I hope to continue to improve my game on the court and do it while enjoying myself every time. I believe that college tennis will help me grow my passion, my work ethic, my collaboration, and my communication skills on and off the court.
