Hi! My name is Kruthi Sudhir and I have been playing tennis for about 6 years. now. First it started out as a hobby since my sister used to play tennis, but as time went on I felt a real passion for the sport. For the last 5 years, I have been competitively playing and training constantly. Not only have I been training on the court, but also have been doing weight training and specified conditioning in the gym. I would call myself a very well rounded person on the court because of my variety of shots, agility, and court mentality. My main strength is my backhand. Not only would I say this is my best shot, but it is also my favorite shot to hit.
I am determined and competitive in matches and practice. During my 3 years of experience in highschool tennis, I have enjoyed cheering on my teammates and the lasting friendships that have formed. Relationships with my teammates, doubles partner, coaches, and trainers is something I value and do not take for granted.
Since my freshman year, I have played Number 1 singles and doubles for my High School team. Freshman year, I was the Conference champion in both singles and doubles. Sophomore year, I was 2nd place in Conference for singles and 1st place in doubles. Junior Year, I won conference for both singles and doubles. My freshman year, I played singles and placed 2nd at sectionals but could not play state due to Covid restriction. Sophomore, I placed 1st in doubles in sectionals and placed top 16 at the Illinois 2A State tournament. Junior Year, I placed 1st in doubles at sectionals and at Illinois 2A State made it to the quarters, and got top 12.
My community has been a big part of my life and supports my tennis aspirations, so I was honored to be named “Central Illinois Athlete of the Month” and my school also named me “Athlete of the week”. The reason I want to continue tennis into college is because I am not ready to let go of it, it has become a part of me. The amount of time and hard work that I have put into getting to this level, I only want to extend my aspirations and play in college. Being named MVP of my tennis team for the past 3 years is a great honor and I will bring this same spirit and determination to the next team I become a part of. My tenacity does not end on the court but only continues with my academic performance which I am very proud of as recipient of the Big 12 Conference Scholar Athlete Award.
Since I began my tennis journey, playing college tennis has been my dream. I am extremely passionate about all aspects of tennis and will ensure to bring my coachable and determined mindset to the college I best fit in academically and athletically.
