What makes a good tennis player? Recently, I've asked myself this question over and over, but I couldn't find an answer. Is it someone who wins a lot? But then I told myself that can't be right because then you'd be leaving out the people who fought hard but lost by simply one point in a tiebreak. When I first started my high school season, Tennis began to become a drag. I felt pressured to win and it was no longer fun. This was in the beginning of my first year of high school tennis. Now, I'm in the middle of my freshman tennis season and I learned that tennis isn't just about winning, it's about having fun too. Isn't that the whole point? So now, I've learned what makes a tennis player good. It's not just about skills it's about mentality too. Yes, of course you need the skills, but what I like to focus on is mentality. I wouldn't say that's what makes me different though, because plenty of other tennis players have this ability. But my ability is to play my game. The game I've always loved. No longer do I see tennis as a "drag". I don't feel pressured to win anymore, and boy let me tell you, I play a lot better now and so far I'm on a winning streak of 5. I'm able to smile as I play and I'm not tense anymore. I'm on varsity, playing number two singles in my freshmen year and I've already learned a lot. I'll keep this updated and if you read this thanks!
