My name is Cali Giglio, and I am in the graduating class of 2023 at Marthas Vineyard Regional Highschool. Currently, I am playing first singles for the girl's varsity team and I am looking forward to continuing my tennis career after high school. I started playing tennis when I was seven years old at vineyard family tennis, and since then I have played in usta tournaments and then started at high school. In total, I have played for 10 years and have received many trophies from past tournaments. In 2018 I was awarded the opportunity to attend the Nike Amherst tennis camp for a week where we played 6 hours of tennis every day with drills. For the past three years, I have also coached tennis through the Adidas tennis camp as an instructor and at Vineyard Family Tennis on the island. I have dedicated my time on the court by taking every opportunity to practice, play, and receive lessons. I love coaching, volunteering, and learning more about the game more and more every day. I also take leadership as a captain this year on the girl's varsity tennis team. I also strive in academics to do my best work and take classes like APs to reach my best self and reach my goals.
I am also vice president of my classes where I help take initiative and organize fundraisers, school projects and pep rallies, and more. I am in multiple clubs where we volunteer at the local food pantry and help clean up our island's wonderful beaches. I was accepted into the National Honor Society this year based on my essay, GPA, and extracurriculars. My current GPA is 3.8 and I am waiting to take the SATs this May.
With my academic and athletic skills, I want to pursue tennis in college by playing at the next level and improving my performance. Not only do I want to pursue tennis, but I want to continue my dream of becoming a nutritionist/dietitian. I would love to work with athletes, young adults, and teenagers, to help them with their health through their food intake and overall nutrition. I am looking forward to college where I can take these specific classes to strengthen my knowledge of health, nutrition, and tennis.
Thank you,
Cali Giglio
