My name is Allison Grandfield, I am seventeen years old, and attend Haslett High School in Haslett, Michigan. I am in the National Honor Society, I have a 3.5 grade point average, and I will graduate in the spring of 2015. This spring will be my fourth year playing varsity tennis.
In my three seasons on the varsity team we have won three regional titles, and competed in three state tournaments. As a freshman I played 2nd doubles and was runner up in the league tournament. As a sophomore I played 1st doubles and was runner up in the league tournament and a regional champion. As a junior I played 3rd singles and I was the league and regional tournament champion with a record of 14-4.
I started playing tennis at eight years old and it has become a passion of mine. While playing tennis I have learned several life skills, two of them are staying focused, and being mentally tough. I would like to continue playing tennis on a team at a competitive level while pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. I am ambitious, hardworking, and I am dedicated to continuing to improve my level of playing. A goal of mine is to receive an athletic scholarship, and be on a team that is driven to succeed.
My goal for the upcoming season is to play 1st singles. Along with conditioning 3-4 days a week, and playing USTA tournaments, I have been working with my coach one day a week, hitting with an elite group two days a week, and playing inner club matches at least one day a week. This routine has helped me to improve and I am confident I will reach my goal.
I am optimistic that I will find a college that will help assist me financially while allowing me to pursue my goals academically and athletically.
