My name is Jeanne Hecquet and I am a tennis player from Versailles, France who is finishing high school as an exchange student in the United States. My goal is to play tennis at the collegiate level. Academically, I am a very strong student and in college, I am determined to continue to excel in the classroom and on the court. My French academic level is 15,5/20 and my American GPA this year was 3.79.
To tell you a little more about myself, I came to the US in the fall of 2020 and began my junior year at West Ottawa High School in Holland, MI and I plan to graduate from Holland Christian High School in May of 2022. I started playing tennis at the age of three and began competing when I was eight. In France, I officially reached the rank of 15 but my actual level is around 3/6.
Tennis has always been part of my life. Tennis is not only a sport for me; it has also served as a gateway to meet incredible people and have amazing adventures. For example, my coach in France, Khalid Arazi (brother of Hicham Arazi former N20 ATP) was instrumental in developing my technical and mental game. Additionally, after a rigorous tryout process, I earned the opportunity to be a ball-person at Roland Garros (French Open) in 2016. It was a great experience where I was able to watch the best players in the world courtside and also meet several of my favorites. I will never forget the 2016 French Open as it inspired me to work harder on my game on and off the court.
Since coming to the United States, I play tennis year round at the Hope College Tennis Center with coaches Adam Ford and Nate Price who work with the Tennis Director, Jorge Capestany. Last spring, I played second singles for the West Ottawa High School varsity team under coach Pete Schwallier. The 2021 girl’s season was one of the best in school history. The team made it to the state finals and tied their best score ever. At second singles, I beat the school’s winning record for my flight. This fall, I plan to get my UTR by playing in as many USTA tournaments as possible. I am also scheduling the SAT for September or October.
After high school, I would like to major in the science field to attend a medical school in the US
Feel free to contact me at any time.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Hecquet
