I’m Isabelle Richter (I go by Izzy), and I’m a 17-year-old driven by big goals in both sports and academics. I first picked up a tennis racket in February 2023—before that, I’d never played tennis in my life! My sports background includes soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track. Once I discovered tennis, I completely fell in love with it. I made varsity my freshman year (Spring 2023), and now train extensively through private and group lessons. I compete in USTA and UTR tournaments and even coach players of all ages as well at my local tennis club.
Recently, my academic interests have pivoted to a new passion: accounting and finance. I enjoy the strategy, structure, and numbers involved—much like the mental game required on the tennis court. The focus and determination I use in tennis directly transfer to my approach in finance. Right now, my GPA is a 3.95, and I’m pushing to raise it even further. I’m also an active member of the National Honor Society and student council, both of which have helped me develop leadership and problem-solving skills.
In the future, I hope to combine my love for sports with a career in accounting or finance—whether that means managing finances for a sports organization or applying my analytical mindset to a different sector of the business world. Ultimately, I want to show that you don’t need to start something at a super young age to excel. Hard work, passion, and a willingness to embrace new challenges can open doors to success in any field.
To everyone striving toward big dreams, let’s keep pushing ourselves, staying curious, and focusing on excellence in everything we do!
Best,
Isabelle Richter
