Hi coaches! My names Ava Wilcox and I’m a 16 year old sophomore student at a small town in Montana, and so far I’ve only played one tennis season competitively. I’ve played since I was about 7, but I never actually played competitively until I joined my schools team alongside my older brother. Within my first freshmen season, I only lost one divisional match, and during that match, I was playing the number one singles position, when I usually played at 2. I then went on to win second at the Southwestern divisionals, but choked at state, which was devastating. I’ve always loved tennis, but I discovered a whole new kind of passion when I got to play competitively last year, since I am very competitive and love the personal challenge that comes along with singles. My long term goal is to find a college that wants me on their team, but my current goal is to just play as much tennis as I can. I would love to be able to be recruited for a college team, but honestly, all I want to do is just play tennis. Tennis gets me through the day, it helps me stay encouraged in my academics, and gave me and my brother such a tight bond, which I can never be grateful enough for.
