The first thing most people notice when I step onto the court is my racket. This is because it has two handles, allowing me to hit a backhand on both sides. However, my racket is not the only thing that makes me stand out on the court. I am tenacious and mentally tough, and I play my hardest when I have nothing to lose. I also have an extremely adaptable style of play, analyzing my opponent's weaknesses and constructing my points accordingly. I had several come-from-behind victories this past season, most notably a comeback in the finals of the NHIAA girls' doubles championship. My partner and I dropped the first set 4-6 and trailed in the second set 4-5, leaving our opponents an opportunity to serve out the match. However, we dug deep to stay alive and clinch the second set 7-5 and bring home the state title after finishing 10-6 in a tiebreak. I also led my team, as captain and the #1 singles/doubles player, to Dover's first-ever state title in D1 girls' tennis.
Playing tennis in college is my ultimate goal. I have worked hard to become a recruitable student-athlete, maintaining a 4.79 weighted GPA, which lands me 7th in my class of 376. I am excited to see my hard work pay off and find a college that has a strong finance program and a tennis team that can support my athletic goals.
