Erika Nelson '12 Recruiting Profile

I began playing tennis seriously in the spring of my eighth grade year with the dream of making the top six on a state championship team as a freshman. I successfully met my goal. My goal for sophomore year was to make the top three on a state championship team. I again succeeded. At the end of my sophomore year, I had two goals in mind for the upcoming junior year. Those were to play number one on a state championship team and to further pursue my interest in playing college tennis. This year I played both number one and number two, and I am devoted to playing college tennis. I am also devoted to my academics. I have a 4.5 (weighted) GPA and a 3.9375 (unweighted) GPA with Honors and AP classes. I am a member of National Honor Society. Other assets that I would bring to a college tennis team include leadership. I am co-captain of the tennis team and an officer in student government. I am planning on majoring in nursing, but I have not ruled out academic institutions where nursing is not available. I am flexible when it comes to geographic location and size of school. I plan to attend a college or university with high academic standards. In addition to tennis and academics, I enjoy participating in water skiing, snow skiing, dirt biking, running, traveling, and photography. I welcome a challenge and I look forward to the opportunity to play college tennis.
