Personal Statement

My name is Morgan De Meyer and I am a motivated and goal oriented athlete. I just finished my junior year at Summit High School and am still pushing hard to reach my maximum playing capacity. I achieved my objective of being a varsity player my freshman year and making it to state my sophomore and junior. Sophomore year, my High School team won state and my partner and I achieved fourth place. In school, I maintain my 3.83 GPA average, and take challenging classes to better prepare myself for college. My goal for Senior year is to evolve as a player in every aspect. I have a lot of help of my coach and stepdad, Jason Quigley, who without questioning agrees to hit with me any time I ask. I also have support from my family and tennis community to aid my ambitions. I am playing tennis almost every day in an upstanding tennis clinic at the Athletic Club of Bend. I also receive exclusive time with Jason during weekends, before school, and at other periods when he is available. In addition to the frequent practicing, I am achieving even more experience in the tennis field as I currently hold the occupation as a tennis instructor for young children.

My ultimate goal is to play tennis at a collegiate level for four years while continuing to be prosperous in my academics. I would like to be a leader and team player who brings something positive to the group. My passion and discipline for the game stands out and with my high energy and quirky style, I believe I can bring a team up, not down. Can you provide specific steps that will lead me to my goal in having the opportunity to be considered for your team?

Thank you for the time it took for you to read my letter. I look forward to any future correspondence with you. Have a wonderful year and I hope to see you on the courts. ~Morgan

  • My name is Jason Quigley; I’m the Director of Tennis at The Athletic Club of Bend in Bend, Oregon. I’m writing this letter on behalf of Morgan De Meyer. She is my student and stepdaughter. I have known Morgan since she was 11 years old and that is when she was introduced to a consistent tennis program. She showed a passion for the game and has continually improved for the last 5 years. Morgan has great energy and has expressed a desire to play college tennis. I can get her to her goal! She has the ability to perform all the shots, from topspin to slice off of both sides, and a very orthodox service motion, with a defined 1st and 2nd serve. She is extremely fast and has a very long wing span at 5’7” tall. Her training at the present consists of clinics almost daily. She also is nice enough to get me up at 6:00 am to work on her game one-on-one at least twice a week. Morgan is constantly surrounded by tennis, it is our family passion and she is one of the leaders. The great upside to Morgan and her tennis game is the fact that since she started at a later age, burn out is not an issue, and the desire and ability to improve are fully there with her athletic ability. At the present, we are working on being more physical with her game. Learning how to dominate with her footwork and desire is the next step for her. I will continue to do my job with Morgan as long as she continues to show the want. Thank you for your time, Jason Quigley GAME ON!
