Before I began my freshman year of high school, I had never played an actual match before and did not consider playing tennis in college. Playing Singles 2 with little match experience was definitely challenging, however that experience helped me grow as a person and it made me want to work even harder to become the best tennis player I could be; it also helped develop my love for this sport. I really enjoy the feeling of hitting the perfect shot, or coming back and winning after losing the first set. But, above all else, I love that even though I play individually, I have great teammates that support and encourage me through the highs and lows. Through this sport, I have learned the value of teamwork, leadership, drive, and commitment.
Academically, in college, my goal is to maintain good grades and excel in the classroom. I want to major in Elementary Education and possibly minor in Special Education. Athletically, I want to be a crucial member and teammate of a girls tennis team and help my team dominate our division. I always give 100% effort in everything I do and I strive to be the greatest person and athlete I can be. Additionally, I am self motivated and will never give up no matter how bad I am winning or losing. I will also be there to pick up my teammates and encourage them to keep going even though it may be hard. Although my freshman year had its setbacks, I am now fortunate enough to say that I have won Section Singles, Section Doubles, second in WPIALS for Doubles, and was a Doubles State Qualifier. I am also thrilled that I can say that I was apart of the first girls tennis team in my high school to win Sections. I believe that this alone shows my work ethic and that I know what it takes to be a leader and competitor on your team!
