Growing up playing tennis has taught me many things, but most importantly has made me realize that it is something I am extremely passionate about. I have now been playing tennis for ten years, and in those ten years, tennis has been one of my biggest enjoyments. I am currently a sophomore and have been the leader of the tennis team since freshman year. Tennis is something I absolutely love, but I also enjoy competing in other activities. Over the past several years I have run cross country and competed on the swim team. I currently compete on my school’s swim team after my tennis season ends, and manage the boy’s tennis team in the spring. Outside of my tennis season, I play at an indoor club, take private lessons, and participate in as many tournaments as available. Since moving to York five years ago, taking lessons with my private coach has spurred my interest in playing competitive tennis.
There are many other things I do outside of playing tennis such as playing the piano, playing trumpet in my school’s marching band, and being in FBLA. In the marching band, I was a drill tech for the brass section. For FBLA, I qualified for states when receiving second place in my event, and have also received other awards such as two sportsmanship awards from my overnight camp where we spend three straight weeks away from home. I feel it is important to not only be a good athlete but to be a good student as well. I currently maintain a 3.94 GPA in above grade level classes. I wish to continue my tennis journey in college while receiving an education that will lead me to my future career.
