Tennis has played a big part in my life for quite some time. I started playing at the age of 6, however, I did not become truly invested until I was 11 years old. This is when I began competing in ZAT level tournaments in Texas through USTA. In Texas, there are three junior divisions; ZATs, Champs, and Super Champs-ZATs being the lowest and Super Champs the highest. Through the years I have advanced through the divisions and I currently compete in the Super Champ division. I play in 2-3 tournaments a month, as I am constantly trying to improve my game as well as my ranking. These tournaments usually consist of one big tournament, such as a SCMZ (Super Champ Major Zone) and other local tournaments. In preparation for these tournaments, I practice about 12 hours each week from Monday through Friday. Aside from USTA, I also play on the varsity tennis team at Plano West Senior HIgh School.
Tennis is a great way to stay in shape, make friends, and develop a strong work ethic. I really enjoy the time I spend on the court, especially when I'm winning. Although tennis has played a big part in my life, it is not my top priority. I definitely do not plan on making a living playing tennis. The most important thing to me is education. As much time as I invest in my tennis, I invest just as much if not more time in to my studies. That being said, I think NCSA provides a great opportunity for me to hopefully find a school where I can continue to play tennis at the colligate level and also reach my academic goals. I am very excited to start this search and take this next step towards my future.
