My name is Miriam Diaz and I have a passionate in playing tennis and my education goals is to chase my dream of eventually becoming a tennis coach..
My tennis training, practice and competition matches started in the summer of 2016 at the age of 11 yrs old. I was introduce to tennis by a sweet lady name Clair McFerran. She became my coach and signed me up for tournaments. My first actual tournament was with USPTA at John Newcombe Tennis Ranch (Newks Tennis), New Braunfels TX. It was the beginning of my passion with tennis.
Over the years I continued to be coach by Ms McFerran and soon after was introduced to Brit Coleman "Mr Sunshine" from Waco Regional Tennis & Fitness Center until we move to Royse City, TX in 2018.
In Middle School in Royse City, they did not have a tennis team so I had to wait until I went to High school where I became part of the tennis team and made Varsity all four years of High School. through out all four years I was rank 1st or 2nd seed.
In my junior and senior years, I was given the team leader role. This honor has helped me grow and learn of the importance of being a leader to my fellow students. As a leader, I was led warm-ups before practice and tennis matches. I would gather the team for a rally to give them encouraging words before our tennis matches, and I would then motivate them during and after the tennis matches as well. Being a leader of our team taught me responsibility and expanded my confidence.
