Hi, my name is Marlane Rodriguez, and I'm from San Saba, Texas. I attend San Saba High School and am part of the varsity tennis team. I started playing tennis in 7th grade with no prior experience, and now, as a sophomore, I'm on the varsity team. I made varsity as a freshman. Even though I didn't start playing as a young kid like some others, I quickly developed a passion for tennis. I've dedicated a lot of effort and hours to tennis both during and outside of school hours. Despite being busy with schoolwork and other extracurricular activities, I always try to make time for tennis. Each year since 7th grade, I've set specific goals for myself in tennis and have successfully achieved many of them. These goals included placing in district, making the varsity team as a freshman, and winning against tough opponents. When I think about my future after high school, I see myself going to college and I always find myself thinking about tennis. I think to myself, “I don’t want to stop playing tennis after high school, I want to keep on going.” Tennis has become a significant part of my life and I don’t want to leave that behind in high school. I believe I have the talent and passion to keep going.
