Hi, I'm Alixandra (Alexi) Huffman, I am currently a senior at Edmonds Woodway High School. I will be graduating in June of 2020. I am 5 '5 ̈ and weigh 135 pounds with an athletic body build. I come from an athletic family and grew up playing both tennis and soccer. I personally love playing tennis because of its competitive and active nature.
I started playing tennis when I was 7 years old with my dad for fun, and soon after I began, we realized I had a natural ability for the sport. My dad played singles and doubles in tennis at Colorado College, and he began to give me more constructive lessons.
I made the varsity tennis team my freshman year of high school and began putting much more effort and time into training and learning about becoming a great tennis player. During my freshman year, I placed 1st in doubles in the Wesco South tennis tournament. My doubles partner and I were also the alternates going to state that year. Although we didn't get to play, it motivated me to work hard preparing for my sophomore year which we placed 8th in the Washington State 3A tennis tournament in doubles.
During my junior year of high school, I tore part of my meniscus in my right knee while playing competitive soccer. The MRI showed a cyst in my knee, and I had to take a break from playing sports to recover and focus on my physical therapy. Although I was not 100% better, I healed well enough to play in 4 season matches as well as districts that year. After this injury, I quit playing soccer to focus more on my tennis game. I recently had surgery to remove the cyst and my knee should be 100% again. I continued my physical therapy for my knee once again, and I began to really enjoy it. Therapy also led me to want to pursue my career in sports therapy as a possible future career. I find it very fulfilling and am interested in helping other people as I was helped with my knee recovery.
I am looking forward to my final year of high school tennis and the possibility of playing four more years in college. I love tennis, have played competitive sports my whole life and can't imagine not playing after I graduate high school and start college. I would appreciate it if you would watch my tennis video and contact me if I might be a good fit for your program.
Thank you,
Alixandra Huffman
