In the future, I would love to continue Track and Field in college. I want to major in Education. My dream has always been to be a kindergarten teacher, because of the impact my kindergarten teacher had and continues to have, on me. I started track in the 8th grade, but my freshman year was cut short due to COVID-19. At the start of my journey in this sport, I began training for events such as The 400M, 200M, and the 800M. I never could really find delight in those events and practicing them. At the start of my 10th-grade year, my coach signed me up to try long jump. I loved it! My first ever jump was a 12'3. I placed 3rd at that small-town meet. I enjoyed the jumping events and my coach could tell. He signed me up for triple jump and high jump. Unfortunately, during mid-season, I strained my quad. I sat out for a total of 4 weeks. It really put a delay on my improvement. Once I was healed, I had two weeks before the state qualifying meet. I practiced every day and did many drills to get my legs back use to the motions. I ended up placing 8th in the state in triple jump, jumping 30'4.5. My high jump PR is 4'2, and I fell an inch short of making it to state in this event.
One thing that I believe makes me different from others is that I'm willing to try new things. In school, I have been tested with many different kinds of classes from forestry to medical terminology. None of the classes have been easy, but all have been doable. I plan to graduate high school in 2023 with most of my classes and credits, needed for a bachelor's degree, already completed. I have always had all A's and B's, and always been on Honor Roll. I start taking Honors classes in 9th grade, my first class was Math 112. I skipped Pre-Algebra in 7th grade and took Algebra 1 and Geometry in 8th grade. My favorite subject is history. I have enjoyed learning about our past since I was four. In other words, I have enjoyed history since my sister played National Treasure in the living room one night.
What makes me a good candidate for your team? For starters, I will branch out from just one event and try whatever the coaches think I, or the team, could benefit from. I enjoy practicing, which is odd to say, but I love getting better. My coaches, Gus Hembree, and Robert Gibson are the biggest reasons that I love the sport. I adore making them proud and seeing them smile and knowing it was my doing. I love this sport and all that comes along with it. I would take great pleasure in continuing my athletic career in college. I can not wait to start Indoor Track this year and finish my junior year off strong in Outdoor Track. I plan to work very hard this next year, in preparation for my senior year. I plan on uploading videos, meet results, ACT and SAT scores soon. Thank you so much for reading
