My passion for track and field developed when I was 8 years as I watched my mom coach our local high school team in my hometown. At the age of 13, I started started competing in track and field. Since then, I have become very competitive. I love being involved with my community, school, as well as my church. Feedback and constructive criticism are important to me because with that I am able to make myself a better runner and leader for my team. In my day to day activities, I realize that my actions always speak louder than my words and I strive to be a role model for older and younger people alike. My overall goal is to obtain a Master's Degree to become an Occupational Therapist where I can help others achieve their goal of independence, prevent disability, and strengthen their health and well-being.
I have been captain of our girl's cross country team since I was a freshman, and have been a big leader in track and field as well. As a member of a small community, one must be involved in many other activities. Basketball, cheerleading/gymnastics, and swimming are other sports that I love to compete in. I am actively involved in student government where I served as vice president for my class since 8th grade. In addition, I am involved in our local LEOS Club where we provide many service projects for our rural community. In the summer of 2016, I was nominated as representative for HOBY (Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar). This was an experience of a lifetime as I met other leaders throughout Arizona and learned how to actively contribute to our society as a leader. Finally, I will serve on the Governor's Youth Commission where I will interact with other students to develop ways to create real change in Arizona.
