I've been running since grade two and dedicated a lot of time to track and cross country. I'm very hard working, disciplined and I follow coaches instructions seriously. I'm committed and persevere through all workouts no matter the difficulty. I train all year round in any type of weather. When I am training, I feel energized, free and happy. I have indigenous ancestry through my paternal grandmother blood line who belongs to the Haida First Nations in British Columbia and it has been imbedded in me respect for our land and natural resources. I am grateful to be able to run on trails that are part of our natural environment.
I manage my time wisely, making room for homework but also ensuring my training has priority. I've been able to balance my grades while making sure I have time to volunteer within my community. I help out at my youth group by organizing games for children grades kindergarten to grade 7. I have achieved second degree black belt and I am currently working at a Taekwondo Academy as an instructor. I teach young children aged 3-15 years old the core values that I myself have learned throughout the years of learning the sport: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit and Self Control. Tae Kwon Do is more than kicks, strides and patterns, it is about respect, courage, courtesy and perseverance, and it is very important for me to pass those values to the younger generations. I carried those values onto my passion for running. Running has become a way of life for me and I look forward to pursue my dreams with a college or university that has a team of athletes with the same goals as mine and coaches who will help me achieve my dream.
I wish to attend a university that challenges me in running and academics. I know I am ready to give my best and I am an excellent asset for universities looking for commited student athletes.
