My name is Kayla James and I have been running track since middle school. Through running, I have been able to learn how to be more disciplined, become mentally as well as physically stronger, make lifelong friends, and go after goals I have made for myself. Running track has had a large impact on shaping the person I am today. I started running because I was told in other sports I played in the past that I have speed, and I wanted to try something new. I instantly fell in love with the challenge. My freshman year I ran Varsity and made it to CIF running the 4x100. I developed shin splints that became borderline stress fractures coming into my Sophomore season. I ran in a few meets, but ultimately was told I had to take time to recover by our school athletic trainer. My junior year season was cut short due to Covid, however I have been training throughout this time and making the best of this situation. I am ready to have my best season yet when the time comes. I would love to use running as a way to further my education and be able to participate in the sport I am most passionate about. I believe wherever I end up attending, I can bring my determination, encouragement for others, and energy along with me to be a great addition to any team.
