Hi, my name is Briana Ayala and I'm from Imperial Beach, CA. I'm a junior at Mar Vista High School. Before track I played soccer for 5 years and from there I have had coaches tell me to that i should try track due to my speed on the field. In 2018 i decided to try track my sophomore year and to my surprise i did extremely well. I was able to make the varsity team after my first race,. I also realized i was the fastest sprinter on my team. I was picked up for 2 more events on our relays where we got gold medals in finals for the 4x1 and 4x4 and my personal favorite the 100m.
One of my major and personal accomplishments at my high school was getting the Triple G Award which is only given to athletes who achieve gold medals in 3 events or more. We were named champions for our Division. I was also voted Most Outstanding Female Sprinter 2018 i was humbled to win these merits all in my rookie year.
One of my goals is to run at the collegiate level and find a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but the character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. 'm always open to new ideas in training as well as giving my opinions on how to improve oneself or as a team. Playing soccer for as long as I did showed me how to be a team player and showed me the maturity and importance of working together. I feel that this would make me an ideal candidate for individual and team events.
In the future i want to major in psychology and help kids. Being an older sister to a younger brother with special needs has allowed me to be educated and compassionate in more ways than i ever imagined. I've always loved to help children especially living it first hand with my brothers disease. Many athletes say they're driven, but fact of the matter is few are willing to do what others won't in order to accomplish what others can't.
