Heavily panting, slowly I begin to catch my breath, and wipe the sweat from my eyes to see out into the open wide field of my high school filling the morning air with an aroma of peace, but out in the distance are the crying voices of birds. For a brief moment in time it seems that the world stopped moving as I think to myself no matter how far I keep on running, I can't ignore or escape the problems in life.No other choice, but to stand tall and face them. But I am not alone. My teammates, my coaches, and most of all my mom is with me stride for stride.
The next leg is the journey on to college, I plan to major in entrepreneurship while minoring in art. The jump from high school to college is going to be an exciting new adventure filled with lots to learn and new people to meet. The only way to understand a person is to lace up their shoes and run in them. I realized that I will be faced with many decisions to go and cry with the birds when times get rough or conquer the hills that lie ahead. Suddenly the world begins to move again as my knees bend at the same time my feet begin to lift off the ground, my arms swing up and down as sweat runs down my face. Regardless of the burning sensation in my legs, I continue to push through the pain and conquer the hills.
That's life; full of decisions to sing with the birds or conquer what lies ahead. My family, new teammates, and new coaches will guide me so the victory at the top of the hill will not be alone.
