Running has always been apart of my life, whether it was trying to practice with my sister or watching her run aspiring to do anything close to that. First time I started running competitively was at 4 years old, while yes I was young it was a memorable experience. I have always wanted to be able to go further than high school.
Through the years I having been training hard to excel in my sports and while I am decent when it comes to cross country I much prefer the feeling I get when I am on the track. I would like to think I am coachable, I train hard and I listen to every correction. Though I might not always be the top runner I strive to always do what I can to help the team.
My freshman year I was hit with an unexpected diagnosis of Hodgkin's Lymphoma stage IV cancer, and most people expected my grades to drop, I proved that I could maintain a 3.96-4.0 GPA the whole year. Additionally, I was able to improve my times little by little, the only disappointing part was that I could not run as fast as my personal standards.
This past season I have realized that keeping my 'normal' throughout my chemo treatments helped my motivation to keep racing and training.
