Personal Statement

Doing well in school has always been incredibly important to me and this will continue to be the case in college. I am looking for a university where I can excel academically, and, at the same time, be part of a serious running team. Cross country and track have been a huge part of my high school experience. Even though our team has not been the most successful, I love my teammates, and I love cheering them on during competitions. They are my core group of friends -- when we are done with practice, we often play frisbee, kick around a hacky sack, or get something to eat and just hang out. I know college will be a ton of work, so I would love to replicate the camaraderie I have with my high school team in college. I think having a physical and social outlet will be a huge benefit. On the other hand, I think I can also contribute to the success of the team. I pride myself on always giving it my all, and I’m pretty sure my past coaches would be willing to attest to that. I never like pictures and videos of me in the final stretch of a race, because I have a horrible grimace on my face. It’s not pretty, but I’m usually going all out. I’d like to think that running in college will be a win-win situation (pun intended) and that I would benefit the team just as much as I would benefit from being part of it.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
