Hi I'm Avery Day, Track has always been part of my life, since my dad ran track in college at Western State. I really look up to my dad and what he accomplished at Western State. He always pushes me to become a better athlete, either with workout he created for me or advice he has given to me. I attend Brighton High School in Colorado, where I have maintained a 3.75 cumulative GPA. I strive to better myself as an athlete or student. In my time in highschool, I have taken vigorous courses such as Ap Chemistry and Ap Literature and a bunch of honors classes. I like to push myself in general because even if I am struggling, I will eventually learn and become better at it. I have gotten an academic letter since my sophomore year and been inducted into National Society of High School Scholars. In track I have learned to keep going and pushing myself no matter how hard the pain is. Pain is only momentary, but the outcome will always make you stronger. I always use that as my motivation to push myself to achieve better personal records. I am a team player when comes to relays or any race the coach needs me to run. The team is the top priority. Last year at the EMAC league championships, i suffered heat stroke after one of my races and still had 2 more to do. I put my own feelings aside to get the rest of the task done with 100% effort. My biggest focus is to always put in 100% i everything you do and never give up. Unfortunately my 4x800 team barely didn't qualify for State, we were 300th of second off. It really showed me that you have to keep striving to be better. It also taught me to train harder and never be satisfied. I joined a Elite team for USATF my junior year to really work on the skills I have and further develop them. My coach of my elite team reworked my fundamental and techniques to allow me to become faster in all my races. This coach pushed me to try races that I wouldn't normally do. Although I never got a Junior season from the Covid-19, my time trials made me super excited about that season. My 1600m is a 5:45 and my 800 is 2:28 which is also unofficial. I look forward to my upcoming seasons in indoor and outdoor. My SATs didn't happen since the Covid, but I plan to take them November 5, 2020.
