Hi, my name is Hunter Stimson, and I live in a small ski town known as Breckenridge, Colorado. I am second generation to be born and raised as a local living in Summit County. Coming from a background of Olympic skiers and athletic blood, you would imagine me to be extremely competitive and an all-around good athlete. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always had this competitive nature; maybe it's because I grew up with an older brother who loves to wrestle and mess around with me. In elementary school, I realized I was pretty athletic compared to the rest of the girls my age. During recess, I would race, and beat all the guys in my grade, wearing flip-flops. It was also in elementary school when my life had changed, I had started getting bullied. This had affected who I was in so many ways. Even though this situation never brought the brightest of days, it sure has made me a better person overall. I have so much experience, and so much more to come, with handling situations and how to treat people. I have used this in my advantage, which has helped me open up to people, be myself around anyone, develop into an extrovert, and so much more. This situation has shown me to keep fighting, and to continue towards what I want; this has allowed me to go after my passions and to not give up until I get there. This leads me into my athletics and academics. I will not let anything get in the way of what I want to achieve. If I want a better grade on my biology test, I will stay after school and retake it. If I want to break the school’s (my mom’s) 300m hurdle record, I will train on, and off season in order to get my skills to their full potential of breaking the record. To conclude, I am a passionate person who will not let anything stop me from doing what I love. I want to maintain my grades while also competing in athletics, at the highest level possible.
