I jumped off the top of a building once. Don’t worry, I was attached to a rope. Every summer I coach at a multi-day camp that utilizes outdoor adventure skills to challenge teens physically and mentally to develop leadership and teamwork skills. This is one of the things I love doing outside of pole vault. There is an indescribable feeling you get when you help someone overcome a fear of heights and repel down a 70-foot building. This experience is one of the many facets that make me the athlete I am.
My sophomore year of track opened my eyes to the passion I feel for the sport of pole vault. I had a minor injury that was easily fixed with PT. During the time I had to sit out was when I discovered how much I really love to compete. From that experience I found the drive and determination within myself that propelled me to the State Meet that year. I learned that to succeed, you must fail first in order to persevere. I am looking for a program that is both athletically fulfilling and academically challenging. I have the talent to compete at the next level in addition to the passion, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program.
