I joined my high school cross -country team my junior year with the intention of improving my stamina for indoor and outdoor track, but I fell in love with both the distance and the team.
After winning my first two cross country races ever, in JV meets, I moved up to the varsity team and continued to improve my 5K time greatly throughout the season. In track I used both my speed from sprinting and endurance from cross-country in middle distance races (400m, 800m, and 1600m), finding that it was my sweet spot. Now I am completely dedicated to middle and long distance running and know that I have not nearly peaked with my speed, but continue to strive for the balance between speed and stamina. I expect that I will improve even more during my second season of cross country this upcoming year which will also improve my track times for the indoor and outdoor seasons.
I am a very determined and hardworking student and athlete and I do not believe in shortcuts. I give 100% to whatever I am passionate about and I have found that my passion for running is far greater than I could have ever anticipated. I am proud of my ability to maintain a high GPA while participating in athletics as well as numerous volunteer positions through my school, town and church. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends and my beloved Golden Retriever, Sadie!
