I am in my junior year at Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Connecticut, and have been an honor roll student and two-sport varsity athlete since the ninth grade. My fall athletic seasons have been devoted to varsity soccer, letting me utilize my speed and agility while preparing me for the winter and spring track seasons.
After many years on the soccer field, starting before kindergarten, it was in middle school that I first participated in track and field (albeit on the club level). For me, running is a thrill and a passion. It allows me a mental escape and motivates me to compete against myself and others while connecting within a team community under the support of knowledgeable coaches. Beginning this year, I have the privilege of serving as captain of the girls' varsity spring track and field team. I am excited to improve my personal performance in short-distance and relay races and develop as a leader alongside my team.
As a determined athlete, I understand the importance of being equally focused as a student and am a member of the National Honors Society of High School Scholars. Away from school, I work part-time as a certified lifeguard and local babysitter. I volunteer for Safe Rides and enjoy skiing, golfing, swimming, and traveling with family.
