I have been wrestling since I was 8 years-old and have learned many life lessons on and off the mat. I have learned leadership, dedication, discipline, diligence and courage. Every time I step out on the mat, win or lose, I learn and gain new lessons and knowledge that I can use to grow from.
My goal this year was to win the Connecticut State Tournament for my weight class. I was on the right track, as I was undefeated (7-0) in my regular season and came in second in State qualifiers. My goal ended when I wrestled my way to the semis and took a tough loss. I went on to wrestle back for fifth, qualifying for Regionals (New Englands). I learned that there are always people who are better than you and that makes me want to work harder. I enjoy being a leader, rolling out the mats, assisting with warm-ups and demonstrating new moves.
I'm looking forward to wrestling my senior year in High School and being captain again. I am looking forward to being a part of a larger team, concentrating on both training and my academics. I am excited to lead my team again next year.
I'm am extremely self-motivated and looking for a college that cares about their student athletes both on and off their mat.
