Hello! I am Phoebe Cora Smith and I am a Freshman at Joel Barlow Highschool. I am from Redding CT, but I am original from Wilmington NC. I am looking to get recruited for Track and Field. I am extremely disciplined and motivated when it comes to my workouts and competition. I dont like having distractions during my workouts or meets, so I choose to turn my phone off and keep it in my bag for the entire duration of any meet or practice. I am goal-driven and I would really like to take track as far as I possibly can. I enjoy working out and have learned that even on days where I don’t feel like working out, I do it anyways because I want to win and be the best. I truly believe in no excuses. Along with track, I really enjoy scuba diving and marine biology related activities. Marine biology is something that I would like to take further as well. I recently got my open water scuba certification. My dream job later on would have to be a scientific research diver. In school, I struggled with the adjustment from middle school to high school. I work very hard in school and take intricate and organized notes. I am happy that I learned so much from my first year of high school and now I can transfer that knowledge to my Sophomore year and do so much better! I really thrive in English, this is because I am a very creative person and I love writing. I like to write in school and out of school. I have a journal for track and a normal everyday journal where I just write down my thoughts. I think that writing is a good way to process the nerves associated with Track and Field, which in some ways can be more of a mental sport. I am also A very outgoing person and I love meeting new people. I am very energetic and bubbly when I get to know people and I love working out with other people and pushing eachother. On the outside of athletics and academics, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I have a very strong support system composed of my amazing coach, Shawn Sorbello, my dad, my mom, and my beautiful friends. I like to keep my friend group small because I think that it is more important to have a small number of friends who you can count on than a bunch of friends that aren’t loyal and real. My best friend, Raveena is always there for me. After meets she asks me how they went, she always checks in on me, we always have fun no matter what we are doing, and she is always there for me when things are hard. I have never had such a great friend, so i give her the same love and support in return. Thank you for reading my personal
