My name is Giulianna Rivero and I'm a student athlete at Doral Academy Preparatory School at Doral, Florida. I've been a runner for the cross country/track and field team for about 3 years and I've grown to become a very determined and self-driven runner who always works hard to improve and gives my 100% at everything I do. I find myself a very coachable and understandable athlete who's always open for constructive criticisms and applies all advice received in and out of the field/track. I believe that an athletes personality and working method is not only shown on the field, but also in school and in the daily life which is why I always find a way to balance all of it.
I first began high school as a gymnast who was looking for a sport in which I could feel a bigger passion and drive than the one I had been feeling. A sport that I felt that I could really keep succeeding at all the way to college and being a part of for the rest of my life. In response to that, I decided to try out and join my high school’s cross country program. After my first race, I absolutely fell in love with the sport. I fell in love with the rush and drive that comes with the races, the feeling of every muscle in your body working together, and the feeling of finishing a race knowing you gave it your absolute all and even more. I have now been running for the varsity cross country and track team for 3 years and have received the title of MVP for the past three seasons. I've learned how to apply the important qualities of hard work, team work, power, endurance, strength, motivation, balance, coordination, and many more, from my 10 years of elite gymnastics into cross country/track and field. I believe that having gymnastics as a base sport has made me the hard working athlete that I am today as it really taught me how to be tough, collaborate with the team, work for what I want, and never be scared to give it my all. I run various events, such as the 5k, 3200m, 1600m, 800m, 4x800m, and plan to improve greatly.
In the classroom, I am focused and motivated to do my absolute best and give everything I have to all of my homework assignments, projects, and tests. I am an honors and AP student as well as in the Dual Enrollment program at Doral College. One of the main ways I am able to succeed athletically and educationally is by finding a balance between the two of them. Organizing everything around them and always keeping in mind what my goals and dreams are.
I am incredibly committed to everything I set my mind to and promise to always give my all and perform to the best of my abilities.
