I am a strong believer in the sense that if you are not working your hardest and trying your best, then what are you doing? As I was thinking about a time in my life to answer this statement with, I realized that this past semester of my senior year was the toughest of all high school. I decided to take dual enrollment courses along with an AP course and two online classes as well. One month into the school year, my brother was deployed and that took a toll on my family and I. A few weeks later, I had gotten my first job as a server at a restaurant because I needed to start taking responsibility for my own living expenses. In November, I was elected as senior class president, and I was now participating in five school clubs. I had also begun competing in varsity weightlifting and conditioning for varsity track. Very quickly, my academics and extracurriculars added up to consume my time. Between 7 classes a day along with my job and extracurriculars, I still had homework and tests to study for and keep up with. There were many nights in which I would wonder how I would manage the next week. I learned very much on how to manage my time and I finished this first semester with mostly A's and only a few B's while competing at the regional level in weightlifting and I became the 2021 varsity team captain of the track team. In conclusion, I have come to learn that with each mistake and downfall, the opportunity to learn from it is given and the mentality to push myself to be a better version of myself than the day before is what pulled me through this year.
